Dear Members

Searching online it looks like our local MP (Gareth Davies) voted to keep Boris. Given the rest of his voting record that's not a surprise. His career in politics is far more important to him than his constituency.

The few things that are claimed to be positive things for Boris can also be challenged, be that Brexit or Covid.

  • Brexit is not done and has few if any of the benefits he promised
  • Covid was made significantly worse by Conservative actions and Boris in particular. Placing a bet on every vaccine (which almost anyone would have done at the time) is not something that deserves credit. That should go to the scientists that worked so fast on a solution

So, what can we do?

  • Writing to our MP saying you are unhappy with his choices might help.
  • Supporting the party in local elections helps show people there is an alternative
  • Finding a like-minded friend to join us (even as just a supporter) can help us dig into the massive majority that currently exists

Here in Grantham & Stamford, we have a chance for change by showing how the Liberal Democrats can restore democracy and decency across the constituency, we're already hearing from previously life-long Conservatives who'll be backing the Liberal Democrats next time, its still quite small numbers but the seeds of change are appearing.

Lets not be shy about explaining why we would do a better job locally.

Kindest regards,

Adrian Abbs B.Sc.
