Harrish has lived in Stamford for 40 years and is an experienced Councillor. He was a District Councillor for 12 years until 2015 and served on many committees and was re-elected in 2019. He is also an elected member of Stamford Town Council and was Mayor from 2002-03.

He has been involved with campaigns to keep Stamford Hospital open, return the Recreation Ground to Stamford people and ensure for adequate and fair car parking. Harrish was on the Patient Participation Group (PPG) for St Mary's Surgery and now serves on the Lakeside HealthCare PPG to continue representing patients.

Following an early career in the RAF and then a business career, Harrish is concerned about imminent hikes in business rates, wages, pension costs, and other cost increases caused by the falling pound facing small business owners. As a father and grandfather he also feels strongly about good equality education and training and affordable housing.
